Discovery Education Spotlight on Strategies
If you haven't had a chance to go to Discovery Education and check out their spotlight on strategies,  you definitely should.  To get to this great resource, go to Clever and login with your Active Directory login.  Click on the Discovery Education Login and in the Search bar, type SOS.  At the bottom of this page are many video that show you how the strategies can be used in the classroom.

If you click on the orange bar in the header, it will take you to the SOS strategies page.  There are many strategies available for a variety of purposes in the classroom (Assessment, Questioning, Summarizing, Vocabulary Development, etc.).

All of these strategies are designed to increase engagement in the classroom.  I hope you will check them out.  If you try one of them, please post your activity on Twitter using the #RCISD Joy and #RCISDSOS.

iACT Announcements - Week of 9/9

Should Students be required to take notes?
Jennifer Gonzales, and educational blogger that I follow, posted a fabulous review on the research about note-taking on her blog "Cult of Pedagogy". She condensed the information into 8 key take-aways that are quick to absorb and apply to your own classroom.

If you have ever wondered whether students should be required to take notes, this is a really great read. She also covers Cornell note-taking and Sketch notes and even how the 2 can be combined. I hope you will check it out!

Bulb Training
If you missed the training during inservice or you need a refresher, we are offering a WOW Wednesday Bulb training on September 19th from 3:45 - 5:00 in the Training Room. Bring your laptop!
